Hypnotherapy is a talking therapy that makes changes at the subconscious level.
Making changes at the subconscious level is not a simple case of helping someone achieve a good hypnotic state (a trance) and then suggesting to them, “You will be calm and in control when you approach the dual carriage way”. Like any other talking therapy, hypnotherapy makes use of psychotherapeutic techniques and ideas to help someone. However, hypnotherapy uses these techniques at both the conscious and subconscious level.
If you drive a car and it starts to veer off to the left all of the time. You do not assume it is your driving that is at fault and adjust your driving. If you have any problems that you cannot correct consciously then it might help to look deeper.
