Subconscious mind

Trying to find help can be confusing. There are many different types of therapy and many different therapist. I became a hypnotherapist because I believe in the power of the subconscious mind. So much of what we do subconscious. Walking, talking, our habits are all subconscious – we do them without really need to pay attention to them.

Some problems we try to resolve them ourselves but struggle. Someone who is a smoker knows what she needs to do to stop smoking. Someone who overeats knows what to do to lose weight. Someone with OCD knows that he wants to change. Someone who is anxious knows she just wants to function without the anxiety. All of these issues, like all our habits and behaviours are subconscious.

You can know what it is you want to change but you struggle to change. This is because the problems are subconscious. For example, someone who want to control their eating habits knows (conscious) that they should not eat cake. Yet they feel (subconscious) compelled to eat it anyway.

Therapy

Hypnotherapy is a talking therapy that makes changes at the subconscious level.

Making changes at the subconscious level is not a simple case of helping someone achieve a good hypnotic state (a trance) and then suggesting to them, “You will be calm and in control when you approach the dual carriage way”. Like any other talking therapy, hypnotherapy makes use of psychotherapeutic techniques and ideas to help someone. However, hypnotherapy uses these techniques at both the conscious and subconscious level.

If you drive a car and it starts to veer off to the left all of the time. You do not assume it is your driving that is at fault and adjust your driving. If you have any problems that you cannot correct consciously then it might help to look deeper.

To help people I use hypnotherapy techniques, CBT techniques, psychotherapy techniques, counselling, psychology, NLP.

I help people by using what works best for the person. By focus on creating the future, they want. Not spending too much time going over the past that they want to leave behind.
